BETA · AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW
Bill, your latest question was how to create a file. The current beta now generates a checked review STEP for supported parts and saved cuts of the current character scan. This wrap-up records today’s progress, the earlier requests and the acceptance checks still needed.
11:23 AM · Your latest request
“How do I create a file from this?” Select a supported character part or saved cut, choose Export selection → STEP · CAD → Generate review STEP, then unzip the downloaded package and open its .step file in SolidWorks.
- 1Select your part or cut
- 2Generate review STEP
- 3Download and check in SolidWorks
Select. Export. Download.
Use Export selection beside the model. The file panel shows the exact revision and available formats. Review STL and section DXF can be generated on this device. Generate review STEP processes the selected C01 part or saved scan cut and downloads its checked ZIP. A changed cut requires a new export. SolidWorks acceptance and manufacturing approval remain separate.

Learn as you work
Hover or focus a tool for a short tip. On a phone, tap its small information icon. Turn on Trainer mode to expand the guidance. The central project command reviews short commands. Submit request to Eddie saves a change request in the shared owner inbox; existing local drafts remain until submitted. Voice recognition depends on the browser; interpreted actions are reviewed before running.
Requests are reviewed before submission. Eddie sets priority and status in the owner request inbox. Named activity recording is optional and starts off. Display preferences, self-entered profiles and reviewed intent can be saved with verified editor access. Automatic implementation and native workstation control remain separate connection steps. The help icon is i.

This log summarizes the supplied messages. It does not claim a call has already happened or assign unverified response times. The repeated 10:58 inbox/thread display is listed once.
One consolidated feedback message helps. Please group related requests, screenshots and the saved project file together. That gives us one clear set of changes to process and test, and reduces repeated checking while the prototype is being updated.
The major project links
Start with the original Fredericksburg artwork review. Stan must approve the artwork and character model before we stage the work for manufacturing; Bill handles the engineering and cut choices based on that approved design.
The working arm reference: Download the prepared P03 arm STEP package. Unzip it and open P03_Arm_Xminus_BW02_C01_S01_REVIEW.step in SolidWorks. This is the existing S01 package you reported working with; it does not automatically change when you move a cut in the viewer.
Save the cut you already positioned
Save from the tab you already have open before refreshing. The saved file lets GO3D reproduce the cut and your instructions.
Public beta · CUT-STEP-01
Click or tap your cut to get its SolidWorks file
Select a character part or saved scan cut, then choose Export selection → STEP → Generate review STEP. The public processor generates the selected C01 revision, checks its geometry and file checksum, and downloads the ZIP directly. No sign-in or computer connection is required.
The download will belong to that exact cut and revision. A prepared S01 file will not be presented as a newly revised cut. Review STL/DXF downloads are also available. Automatic STEP-to-Drive storage is not connected yet; direct public STEP downloads do not depend on it. Extract the ZIP and open its STEP in SolidWorks. Manufacturing HOLD.
Cut request
Save my design
- In the cut controls, click Save my design.
- If that button is not visible, go to 3 · Request a change → Download request file.
- Attach the downloaded .json file to your reply. It records selected parts, cut positions, the marked point and your instructions.
The download does not automatically submit your request to GO3D. A revised STEP solid still needs to be generated from the saved settings.
Design with library
Save complete project
- Choose Queue this cut to include the section in the project.
- Choose Save complete project.
- Keep the downloaded .go3d.json file so the project can be reopened.
The project contains the saved recipe and placed review meshes. It is not a shared cloud save or a new manufacturing-ready CAD export.
Component libraries
Import selected files from a ZIP
Open Design → Import library ZIP. Choose your archive, check the parts you want, confirm STL units and choose Import selected files. Each file reports its real result. Successful components appear in the existing library for fit and placement.
Use Download this library ZIP to keep all successfully imported originals, including unplaced parts. Save complete project separately for cuts and placements.
ZIP import steps, supported files and limits
Mark a point
Click the location on the character
- Go to Request a change → Choose location on model.
- Click once on the exact spot, then choose Done marking.
- Check the point and coordinates, then download the request file.
The existing toolbar route also works: Show controls → Mark a point → click the model. The nearby i information icon explains the steps.

How your requests shaped the app
Fredericksburg handles the customer; Bill’s role is engineering for Fredericksburg. We never held the original artwork review meeting and moved straight into the manufacturing stage. Stan’s approval of the artwork and character model must now be completed before manufacturing staging proceeds. Your requests about usable files, detail levels and specific sections drove the development of the builder and the supporting CAD tools, but those tools do not replace the design approval.
Approve the artwork first
The original Fredericksburg / Fredericksburg first-draft review meeting did not take place. Stan must review and approve the artwork and character model before we stage the approved design for manufacturing. Bill’s engineering and cut choices then follow that approved design.
Make the files useful to you
Your feedback about file compatibility, manageable file sizes and retained detail led to resolution options and prepared sections. The P03 arm you reported working with is the reference for that part.
Capture your exact choices
The builder adds direct cut positioning, point marking and saved request files so GO3D can work from explicit settings. The expanded design tools support review, assembly and the next engineering iteration.
Beta review and remaining acceptance checks
A newly generated selected-cut STEP and its checked ZIP download have passed the recorded workflow checks. Shared request submission and owner priority/status controls are connected. The mobile light/dark clash and duplicate help glyphs have been corrected and checked in mobile emulation.
Physical iPhone speech capture and SolidWorks 2021 import/scale acceptance remain unverified. Prototype acceptance, Stan’s artwork/model approval, consent to any live-computer connection and manufacturing approval are separate. Manufacturing HOLD remains. Published updates appear in the release log. Display preferences and a reviewable activity journal are available in Settings; choose whether to record and confirm your intended goal. Automatic code deployment and native workstation pairing remain separate connection steps. Check connections · Release check.
What has grown since the prototype email
A rollup of the major additions now present in the development build. These are prototype capabilities at varying stages of validation; the list is a current feature summary, not a timestamped audit of every change after yesterday’s email.
Review and direct cut control
- A unified GO3D workspace with established model, builder, workstation and help links.
- Expanded desktop and mobile viewing, with controls that can be shown or hidden.

- Assembly search, renaming, branch copies, hierarchy changes and fine movement or rotation.
- Layout reports, supplier part lists and review packages to support engineering discussion.
Surface and workstation review
- Local surface-patch fitting with a control net, deviation view and open-sheet STEP/report export. Whole-character closed-solid conversion remains a separate engineering task.
- Surface and finish comparison planning across mesh and CAD workflows.
- Workstation inventory and benchmark guidance, plus companion software instructions.
- Remappable keyboard and controller options, experimental SpaceMouse support and WebXR review. Physical-device and Bill’s SolidWorks 2021 acceptance checks remain to be completed.
When you are ready
Training can be as short as you want
The broader workflow is covered in the training program. Once I have tested and approved the prototype, we can focus only on the steps you need: inspect a model, choose a cut, mark a point, save the request and review the next revision.
Just ask for the length or scope you want. We can keep the first session brief and discuss the larger platform when you are ready to take it on.
The handoff sequence
One stable version for the walkthrough
Let the updates finish, let Eddie test and approve the build, then train on that approved version. Stan’s artwork and character-model approval is a separate requirement that must be completed before manufacturing staging.

Roadmap for our next discussions
The current scan’s supported cut-to-STEP download is available for beta review. The other items below are proposed extensions and production-planning steps to scope together. A validated production optimizer and automated finishing schedule are not yet operating.
BETA REVIEW · CUT-STEP-01Your chosen cut, its own STEP download
Select a supported part or saved cut of the current C01 character scan, then choose Export selection → STEP · CAD → Generate review STEP. The processor checks the geometry and the browser verifies the downloaded package against that exact selection.
The checked ZIP downloads directly; automatic Drive publication is still not connected. Extract the package and check its faceted review STEP in SolidWorks 2021. The prepared section files remain clearly identified as S01, and SolidWorks acceptance is still pending.
DESIGN APPROVALStan approves the artwork; then we stage manufacturing
We moved into manufacturing without holding the original artwork review meeting. Complete that review with Stan and obtain his approval of the artwork and character model first. Bill then handles the engineering and cut choices for the approved design.
Confirm the section boundaries, scale, fit requirements and revised engineering exports before staging or releasing parts for manufacturing. The missed review still needs to be closed; the prototype does not constitute artwork or manufacturing approval.
PRINT PLANNINGBuild the manufacturing schedule from the cuts
Use the approved cut choices to plan part orientation, supports, build-volume fit, print batches, assembly and available machine capacity. Compare arrangements that could reduce print time and rework.
The schedule needs actual printer rates, materials, quantities and capacity; the present review tools are not a validated automatic production optimizer.
COLOR & FINISHCompare routes to a finished date
Compare suitable color and finishing processes, then account for printing, cleanup, joining, filling, sanding, color application, cure or dry time and inspection. Show how each viable process affects the target finish date.
Recommendations and dates must use the selected material, finish specifications, supplier lead times and shop availability.
CONTINUED DEVELOPMENTChoose the next improvements after the prototype is approved
Use your experience with the tested build to prioritize simpler controls, targeted training, supplier components, surface refinement and workstation integration. Scope and validate each addition before relying on it in production.
