Bill’s Quick Start / Tue Teaser
Beer Man walkthrough · 20 October 2026

Start with Beer Man.

Bill, use the model already waiting in your app. Work through one part, one cut and one file. You do not need to load a scan.

Open Beer Man in Bill-Builder

  1. 1Open Beer Man. He is already loaded.

Open Bill-Builder and wait for the source check. Start with the Beer Man already on screen; you do not need to load a scan. This is the BW02 / C01 working model, with the mug separate.

  2. 2Pick one part and look around.

Start with Head, or choose your own part. Drag to turn it; pinch or scroll to zoom. Try Show only this part or Spread apart. Use Center if the model moves out of view.

  3. 3Move the cut where you want it.

Open the selected part’s design controls. Choose Boundary to move; drag the gold handle or enter Position · in. The + / − buttons move 0.10 inch. Use Face cut to inspect it and Undo cut to step back. To show a detail, choose Mark a point, then tap the model.

  4. 4Need a separate named section?

For a new section plane, open Design with library > 2 · Section. Enable the section, choose its axis, position and side; rotate only if needed. Give it a Cut name, such as “Bill head test 01”, then choose Queue this cut. Confirm its name appears in the cut list. For a moved part boundary, continue with that selected part.

  5. 5Save your work before leaving.

Choose Save complete project and keep the downloaded .go3d.json. Rename your saved copy clearly, for example “BeerMan_Bill_Test01.go3d.json”. Use Open complete project to restore it later. Your saved project and your STEP are separate files.

  6. 6Export your current revision.

Choose Export at the top of Tools. Under Selection, choose the current part for a moved boundary, or your named cut. Choose STEP · CAD > Generate review STEP. Wait for the checked ZIP. If you change the cut again, generate a new result.

  7. 7Open and check the file in SolidWorks 2021.

Unzip the package, then open the .step file. On iPhone, look in Files > Downloads or your Safari download folder. Check the intended part, retained side, cut position, units and one known dimension. The STEP is a faceted review solid, not a native SolidWorks feature tree; physical scale still needs your check.

  8. 8Tell Bill-Builder what should happen next.

Open Project QA log. Choose What is it?: a bug, new feature or task. Set Your priority, describe the result you want, then choose Add to QA log. You can change it later with Save my priority. Your priority steers the work; development status remains separate. New functions are logged for development, not automatically installed.

    Open Project QA log

Help right where you work

Tap i beside a tool. Under Start here, choose Show me around or Start guided practice. Turn your phone to landscape for Help and Trainer mode; try Show control or Watch demonstration.

At the top, type in Ask GO3D — speak or type: “How do I move the head cut?”, “How do I save my project?” or “How do I export this cut?” Choose Ask for help. Review proposed actions before running them.

For a new tool idea, use Project QA log and choose New feature. Give an example: “For the head cut, I want a button that shows the cut straight on.” Set your priority. This records a development request; it does not install untested app code.

Optional short clips

Start with the cut and save clips. The other tools are here when you need them.

  1. Start and find your tools 42 sec
  2. Measure and adjust a cut 35 sec
  3. Save and reopen 35 sec
  4. Add a library component (optional) 38 sec
  5. Surfaces and finishes (optional) 35 sec
  6. Controllers (optional) 40 sec
  7. CAD handoff setup (optional) 42 sec
  8. Load another product scan (optional) 42 sec

Play all eight — about 5 minutes

Captioned, without audio. These recordings predate the latest export panel. Follow the current export instructions for the latest controls. Loading another scan is optional, not the start of this Beer Man exercise.

Bring in CAD and finish in SolidWorks

Import exported STEP/STL parts, use GO3D’s guided surface placement and local NURBS fitting, then detail in SolidWorks. The optional native companion needs separate setup and permission.
