Your Beer Man design workspace

Your Beer Man.
Your workflow.

Cut sections, place components, organize parts and prepare drawings in Bill-Builder. Keep your complete project, then take the exact files into CAD when you need them.

The actual C01 character. Your choices. One saved project.

What are you working on?

Choose a task for its controls and a short guide. Opening a tool leaves your geometry unchanged.

01 / CUT & SECTION

Keep the part you mean.

Select a body region or position a cut plane. Inspect the retained side on the model, then use Queue this cut to keep its settings in your project.

A named cut is a saved design instruction. Generate its own STEP after making your final adjustment.

Open section tools

02 / COMPONENT PLACEMENT

Build inside the character.

Open Design with library → Library. Import a STEP or STL component and choose Choose fit & preview. Position it on a picked scan surface, at a datum or relative to a parent part; inspect the preview before committing.

Surface normals and inward offsets assist placement. The layout screen does not certify running clearance, motion or structural strength.

Open placement tools

03 / PARTS & LAYERS

Give each part a clear identity.

Name layers, isolate a part and control visibility. Add the part number, material, revision and notes before producing drawings or handing the project back.

These project properties follow saved revisions and complete-project files. Imported STEP metadata does not recreate a native CAD feature tree.

04 / LOCAL SURFACE FIT

Fit the area that needs CAD.

In Surface & color → Automatic scan → NURBS, pick a small patch and set its size and tolerance. Fit the patch, inspect the deviation result and export the accepted STEP sheet.

This creates a local open surface. It does not automatically rebuild the full character into a smooth, watertight solid.

Open surface fitting

05 / REVIEW DRAWINGS

See the design from three sides.

In Export → Prepare shop drawing, choose the selected geometry or visible assembly. Add the title and revision, then create front, top and side views with dimensions.

Save the scaled SVG/PDF and full-size millimetre DXF views. Check dimensions and engineering requirements before using a sheet for fabrication.

Open drawing tools

06 / EXACT-REVISION EXPORT

Download the geometry you selected.

Select the region or saved cut. Choose Export selection → STEP → Generate review STEP. Wait for Ready, download the ZIP and extract its STEP.

The current C01 STEP service makes bounded faceted review solids. Changing the cut requires a new export. STL is mesh geometry; a DXF is a drawing or section profile.

Open exact export

07 / PROJECT & REVISION HISTORY

Keep the model and a way back.

Use Save complete project to retain the review geometry and design recipe in a .go3d.json file. Use Open complete project to continue that work. Save a named checkpoint before a major change.

Cloud history keeps design settings and revisions; a complete-project download also carries the review meshes. Keep original supplier CAD separately.

Open save & history

08 / REVIEW & COMMENT

Point to the revision that needs a change.

Open Project QA, describe one issue or improvement, add the relevant revision and choose its priority. Keep the receipt so you can update that item and see its recorded result.

For CAD feedback, include the exact file, part, units and operation. A useful report says what you tried and what happened.

  3. 03Beer Man parts organized into drawing layers

    Organize your layers

Name the parts and layers. Show, hide or isolate the geometry you want to work on.

    A workspace you can read.
  4. 04Beer Man save and review output controls

    Save and review

Use Save complete project to reopen your work. Export the selected geometry or create a review shop drawing.

A project and its review files.

Open it. Take it apart. Make it yours.

Your Beer Man files.

The starter and completed example use the same C01 source. Keep a copy before making your own changes.

To reopen a project: in Design with library, choose Open complete project and select the downloaded .go3d.json file.

The source is a scanned mesh. A saved GO3D project keeps the working geometry and design recipe; it is separate from a native SolidWorks feature tree.
