Use the controls
that feel natural.
Open 3D mouse & VR below the model. Both tools keep the design’s source coordinates and geometry intact.
3D mouse: six-axis navigation
- Connect a compatible SpaceMouse or SpaceNavigator. Open the viewer in a desktop browser that exposes WebHID.
- Choose Connect 3D mouse and select the device in the browser chooser. Only the selected device is used.
- Click back on the model and move gently. Pan, zoom, yaw, pitch and roll work together. Use Level view or Center view to recover.
- Set speed and dead zone to taste. Use the six reverse switches if an axis feels backward. Choose a different input range if travel feels too small.
| Input | Default action |
|---|---|
| X / Y translation | Pan the camera |
| Z translation | Zoom |
| Rotation axes | Pitch, roll and yaw |
| First / second button | Center model / level view |
This is an experimental direct WebHID connection, not certified 3DxWare integration. The browser must expose standard multi-axis HID reports. Some devices, wireless receivers, operating systems or drivers do not expose that interface.
If the device does not appear
Try a direct USB connection and check the browser’s WebHID support. An OS driver may own the device. Keep your normal CAD driver configuration if you need it; mouse, touch and DualSense controls remain available in the studio.
3Dconnexion support ↗Move a component, not the whole view.
- Place a library part, then tap its visible surface or choose it from Placed part.
- Open the part toolbar in the model. Choose Move or Rotate, and select Source XYZ or Part axes.
- Use the signed X/Y/Z buttons for exact steps. Fine control divides each step and device movement by ten. Drag to move or turn; Done restores camera navigation.
- With a 3D mouse, translation axes move the part and rotation axes turn it. With the DualSense layout, L3 cycles View / Move / Rotate and R3 toggles fine control. The right stick moves X/Z, triggers move Y and the left stick turns X/Z.
Each continuous gesture has one undo checkpoint. The placement is saved in the design recipe and used by the existing CAD handoff. Original supplier geometry and scans remain unchanged. Relink missing files before editing.
VR: review the actual model
- Load the product and arrange its visible parts and section side in the main viewer.
- Open the same HTTPS viewer URL in a headset browser with immersive WebXR, or a desktop browser connected to a supported headset.
- Choose Tabletop fit for comfortable inspection. Choose 1:1 from file millimetres only after checking the file’s scale against a known dimension.
- Select Enter VR review. The headset shows a snapshot of the currently visible geometry; return to the main viewer to edit it.
| VR controller | Action |
|---|---|
| Trigger | Pick two surfaces; display their straight-line mesh distance |
| Grip / squeeze | Refit the model in front of you and reset measurement |
| Right thumbstick | Turn the model / adjust its height |
| Headset session menu | Exit VR; overlay Exit is available where supported |
The review uses your loaded mesh and mechanical components. It does not simulate loads, clearances, haptics or manufacturing fit. VR measurements are temporary display estimates and are not saved into the design recipe. Reassemble an exploded model before measuring.
The browser checks support before entry. Phone browsers that do not expose immersive WebXR keep the normal touch viewer. A headset browser and controller check is still required for your specific hardware.
Keep a first session simple.
Load one product. Inspect one interface. Place one component, then compare it at tabletop size and at checked physical scale. Keep the original scan and CAD beside the saved recipe.
Open the design studio →Device controls are optional. Model and section data remain in the same source frame. These integrations have software tests; physical 3D mouse and headset acceptance remains pending.
