Version 1.4 · limited beta · review files
Get the cut you need.
Keep the checked file.
The previous triangle-count cap is removed for the supported original C01 Beer Man review STEP workflow. The processor still has finite time, memory and file-size limits. Your own workstation must be tested separately.
- Choose your part or saved cut and its region.
Open Export and choose the saved cut under Selection. In Export region, explicitly choose Arm A · P03 for an Arm A section, or the other intended character part. Entire source scan applies that plane to the whole scan. Keep the original Side to keep and check the displayed region and revision, then choose STEP · faceted solid. Existing cuts stay unchanged. A cut-request JSON or complete project is a backup, not a STEP file.
- Choose Generate review STEP once.
Read the compute and selection notice. Check I understand that Start runs a new cloud calculation, then choose Start calculation. Choose Keep editing to return without starting.
- Watch the stage and elapsed time.
The app reports capping, building, validation and file transfer as they happen. Complex scans can take several minutes; there is no reliable finish estimate for every cut. Cancel calculation requests a server stop; wait for confirmation. Closing the tab or stopping the wait alone is not proof the server stopped.
- Choose Download STEP package when Ready appears.
On Windows, look in the browser’s Downloads list or your chosen save folder. Extract the ZIP. Open its .step file in your CAD program and keep validation.json with it. Check the selected revision and millimetres before using it.
- If it fails, stop and show GO3D.
Keep your project open. Use the app’s failure details and screenshot to report the exact part, cut, revision and message. Do not keep pressing Generate. GO3D must review the cause before another calculation.
Select less scan data for SolidWorks
In Export, use Select just what you need. Choose Point + size to center a box on the scan, or Box to fit the selected part. Drag a face or the center in the view. Open Parameters for exact position, dimensions and rotation, or hold a handle to open them. You can enter dimensions such as box 6 x 4 x 8 in; this is a dimensions parser, not an automatic interpretation of design intent.
Polygon and Lasso define a region with explicit depth, including front and back scan surfaces inside it. A concave outline can offer a larger enclosing convex boundary; review the dashed boundary and confirm it explicitly. The orange highlight previews the retained scan surface. Choose Apply region, then generate once. The original scan and saved cuts remain unchanged.
Under What can I edit in SolidWorks?, choose faceted solid STEP, a smooth fitted STEP sheet, section DXF or mesh reference. They carry different data: a faceted solid has triangle faces, a fitted sheet is open, and DXF lines need CAD sketch work. None automatically rebuild a native feature tree. Physical workstation and CAD acceptance remain pending.
What this STEP can and cannot do
The checked file contains a faceted scan solid: its faces preserve scan triangles. It has no native SolidWorks feature history and does not automatically become a smooth, editable NURBS reconstruction. Native CAD features, fitting and reconstruction require their own workflow and testing.
A STEP can contain several disconnected closed bodies, including small scan fragments. They are retained rather than silently deleted. Inspect the body count and intended region in CAD. A closed-solid check does not certify printing, wall thickness, clearances, physical dimensions or manufacturing. Units are millimetres; confirm scale, the retained region and import in your actual SolidWorks setup. Scan defects or difficult topology can still prevent a valid result. Finite time, memory and package limits remain.
A file generated or saved in GO3D’s test virtual machine stays there until it is explicitly delivered. That does not save it on your PC. In your own browser, use Download STEP package, find the ZIP in Downloads, extract it and open the .step. Bill’s recorded earlier export failed at the old triangle-count limit before a checked STEP was available.
This beta is an unfinished test prototype, not a validated production software release.
Try a smaller checked file first
Use this prepared Arm A · P03 test cut to check download and SolidWorks import without another calculation. This is an existing controlled example from C01 at Z = 992.54 mm, positive side, within the recorded baseline Arm A bounds. It is separate from your current design and does not claim to match a different saved cut.
ZIP: 3,365,045 bytes. Extracted STEP: 11,487,548 bytes, 25,848 faceted faces, 3 closed bodies including two small retained scan fragments. Units: millimetres. Faceted solid review only; native feature history, SolidWorks acceptance and manufacturing approval remain pending.
Download prepared Arm A test STEP ZIP- Save the ZIP to your PC, find it in Downloads and extract it.
- In SolidWorks, use File → Open to open the extracted .step. Keep validation.json with it.
- Check the region, millimetres and body count. Save a separate native test copy, close it, reopen it and rebuild. Record the actual file path and any message. That workstation test has not yet been verified.
- If the file fails to open or rebuild, keep it unchanged and record the exact error. Stop before paying for another generation; GO3D must review the failing boundary.

Need to inspect the whole Beer Man?
This prepared download contains the checked, whole original C01 scan as a faceted review solid in millimetres: 114,282 faces, one closed solid. It is not a reconstructed smooth or parametric model, and it is not your custom cut.
STEP: 52,049,960 bytes (~52 MB).
ZIP: 15,129,005 bytes (~15 MB).
For most work, exporting only the needed part is easier to open, transfer and review.
This button downloads an existing file. It does not regenerate the model.

The native validation checks closure, faces, edge incidence, units, bounds and volume. Bill’s computer, CAD import, scale, fit and manufacturing acceptance remain separate.
Get guidance inside the app
Open Ask GO3D, enter your question as text, or use keyboard dictation where your browser supports it. Choose Get a file and Show me to find the relevant control. A saved request does not mean a calculation or app change has already run.

GO3D’s goal is to move supported high-volume generation onto a local Dragon Fire workstation to reduce reliance on paid cloud compute. The current package supports CPU mesh inspection only. Local STEP generation, workstation pairing, texture matching and speed/quality parity still require implementation and measured testing. Selecting Dragon Fire in the app does not move this STEP calculation off the cloud today.
